Web Desk: WhatsApp, one of the world’s most widely used messaging platforms, is reportedly working on a new password feature aimed at improving user account security.
As digital threats continue to evolve with the advancement of artificial intelligence and sophisticated hacking techniques, the Meta-owned platform is developing an additional layer of protection for user accounts.
The upcoming optional feature will allow users to set an alphanumeric password ranging from six to 20 characters, including at least one letter and one number. Once enabled, users will be required to enter this password after inputting their six-digit verification code, significantly reducing the chances of unauthorized access. The feature is currently under development and is expected to be introduced in a future update.
Interface Enhancements for WhatsApp Business on iOS
Meanwhile, WhatsApp Business users on Apple’s iOS devices may soon notice a redesigned interface featuring the new Liquid Glass layout. The updated design incorporates transparent visual elements to create a more modern and seamless user experience.
The tab bar, for instance, will appear as a semi-transparent element that blends with the chat background, while the keyboard and context menus will integrate more naturally with the overall interface. However, this update is being rolled out gradually and may become more widely available in future releases.
Scheduled Messaging and Content Privacy Features
In addition to security improvements, WhatsApp is also working on a scheduled messaging feature. This functionality will allow users to compose messages in advance and schedule them to be sent automatically at a selected date and time.
Users will be able to manage scheduled messages through a dedicated section within the chat information screen, where they can review or delete messages before they are delivered.
Furthermore, the platform is planning to introduce message spoiler formatting to enhance privacy. This feature will allow users to hide sensitive information in messages until the recipient chooses to reveal the content manually.
Improved Media Organization
WhatsApp is also expected to introduce new media filters that will enable users to organize shared content more efficiently. With these filters, users can sort files by category such as photos, videos, GIFs, or stickers, making it easier to locate specific media within chat histories.
