Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has introduced a 10% tariff on imports from all countries following a Supreme Court ruling that annulled his previous global tariff plan.
The newly imposed tariff is scheduled to remain in effect for 150 days unless extended by Congress. The Supreme Court had ruled that Trump lacked the legal authority to unilaterally implement tariffs, marking a significant challenge to his trade policies.
The Court emphasized that Congress plays the primary role in regulating trade and found that the former president had overstepped his executive powers. Despite this, the 10% tariff will apply to nearly all imports, with limited exceptions granted for certain goods and countries, including Canada and Mexico.
This move is interpreted as Trump’s attempt to continue his economic agenda and assert US influence in global trade, even amid widespread international concern over the impact of tariffs on commerce and diplomatic relations.
