News Desk: The Punjab government has initiated decisive measures against the distribution of substandard medicines by ordering the immediate recall of two pharmaceutical products from the market due to safety concerns.
According to the provincial Health Department, Cetirizine 10mg tablets and Ivermectin injections have been declared unsafe for both human and veterinary use following laboratory testing.
Drug testing laboratories confirmed that certain batches of these medicines failed to meet quality standards and may pose potential health risks. In response, authorities have directed the concerned pharmaceutical companies to promptly withdraw the affected batches from circulation.
Medical stores and pharmacies across the province have also been instructed to discontinue the sale and distribution of these products to prevent any possible harm to patients.
The Health Department has advised the public to avoid using any suspected or low-quality medicines, warning that the use of substandard drugs could result in serious health complications.
In addition, the Drug Control Department has announced stricter surveillance measures and enhanced enforcement actions to curb the circulation of counterfeit and low-quality medicines in order to ensure public safety.
