Lahore, Web Desk: Punjab Health Minister خواجہ سلمان رفیق has announced that free medical treatment worth over Rs3 billion will be provided annually to stroke patients under the Chief Minister’s Stroke Programme.
While chairing the first meeting of the Advisory Committee for the Chief Minister’s Stroke Programme, the minister stated that the Punjab government is taking significant steps to introduce major healthcare initiatives aimed at improving patient care across the province. He noted that considerable progress has already been made in implementing the programme.
He further explained that the primary objective of the initiative is to help save thousands of lives by ensuring timely and accessible treatment for stroke patients. Punjab Chief Minister مریم نواز شریف has also approved the establishment of dedicated stroke management centres in every district.
In addition, authorities have made an in-principle decision to appoint neurologists and pediatric neurologists in all District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospitals across Punjab.
The health minister added that a comprehensive plan is being developed to provide immediate stroke management training to doctors and nursing staff in all districts to strengthen emergency response and treatment facilities.
