PESHAWAR Web Desk: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sentenced a lawyer to six months in jail and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 for disrespecting a female judge in a contempt of court case.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Ijaz Anwar, who heard the case against a member of the District Bar Association Swat. The lawyer was accused of using inappropriate language and issuing threats toward the female civil judge, reportedly attempting to pressure her into a favorable decision.
The court condemned the lawyer’s actions, stating that such behavior undermines the integrity of the judiciary and violates the principle of rule of law. Officials emphasized that all legal practitioners are expected to maintain professionalism and respect toward the bench.
