Web Desk: England cricket team booked their place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals after a thrilling two-wicket win over Pakistan in the Super Eight stage at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Tuesday.
This victory, England’s second consecutive win in the Super Eights, made them the first team to advance to the semi-finals in the 20-team tournament, strengthening their position at the top of Group 2 with four points.
Chasing a target of 165 runs, England reached the total with eight wickets down and five balls to spare, thanks to an outstanding captain’s innings from Harry Brook, who guided his team to victory under pressure.
England’s innings began shakily as Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi made early breakthroughs, dismissing Phil Salt (0), Jos Buttler (2), and Jacob Bethell (8) within the first five overs, leaving England struggling at just 35 runs. Despite this early setback, Brook’s composed knock ensured the Three Lions overcame the challenge and secured a place in the semi-finals.
