Web Desk: The Pakistani film Mera Lyari has been positioned as a positive and realistic portrayal of Karachi’s Lyari district and is set to premiere at the UK Asian Film Festival in response to the Indian film Dhurandhar.
The film, which reportedly challenges the negative depiction of Lyari in Dhurandhar, will showcase the cultural richness, resilience, and football passion of the area—often referred to as “Mini Brazil” due to its strong sporting identity.
After delays and missed deadlines, Mera Lyari is finally ready for release and will have its international premiere on May 2, 2026, at the 28th UK Asian Film Festival. The screening will take place at the British Film Institute in London’s South Bank, and tickets are available.
Executive producer Ayesha Omar announced that the film aims to present Lyari’s spirit on a global platform. She added that the film will release in Pakistan after its international debut.
