Web Desk: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a strong warning to telecom operators over complaints of unauthorized balance deductions and hidden subscription charges imposed on mobile users.
The regulatory authority has made it clear that telecom companies will face strict action if they enroll customers in value-added services (VAS) without obtaining explicit consent. PTA emphasized that no changes to mobile tariff structures can be implemented without prior approval from the regulator.
Operators have also been directed to ensure complete transparency in billing practices and avoid charging customers for services they have not willingly subscribed to. Non-compliance with these instructions may result in heavy penalties and regulatory action.
The authority further advised telecom companies to focus on improving service quality and infrastructure rather than placing additional financial burdens on consumers through unexplained charges.
Mobile users across the country have frequently reported issues related to disappearing balance and automatic service subscriptions. In response, PTA has encouraged affected customers to register their complaints through its official helpline and complaint management system.
The regulator reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair practices within the telecommunications sector.
