Web Desk: Recent rumors suggesting that over 100 companies have left Pakistan are misleading, according to official data from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
The SECP clarified that only 19 international companies ceased operations in Pakistan between 2022 and 2025, far below public claims of a mass withdrawal. Reports suggesting 125 company closures were found to be inaccurate, as that figure represents all foreign firms that have shut down since 1977, not in recent years.
In contrast, 89 new foreign companies entered the Pakistani market during the same period, highlighting sustained investor confidence and continued business activity.
The commission emphasized that Pakistan remains an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investment, and that the corporate sector continues to grow despite circulating rumors of an exodus.
