Web Desk: A new wave of digital fraud has emerged in Pakistan, where scammers are reportedly using fake fingerprints to bypass biometric security systems and steal funds from victims’ bank accounts.

In one alarming case, a resident lost access to their mobile network, only to discover that criminals had cloned his SIM card and activated it on another device. Using the duplicate SIM, the fraudsters gained access to his banking app and withdrew millions of rupees in a matter of minutes.

The scammers reportedly create silicone replicas of fingerprints to trick biometric scanners, highlighting serious vulnerabilities in verification systems widely used by banks and telecom operators. Experts warn that users must exercise caution and monitor accounts for unusual activity, as biometric security alone may no longer be fully reliable.

Authorities are investigating the incident and urging the public to adopt additional safety measures, such as two-factor authentication and regular account monitoring.
